“Goldfish Salvation” Riusuke Fukahori

ICN gallery proudly presents Goldfish Salvation by artist Riusuke Fukahori from 1 Dec 2011 - 11 Jan 2012.

Artist Riusuke Fukahori’s London debut exhibition “Goldfish Salvation” transforms ICN gallery into the world of goldfish. When struggling with artistic vision, Fukahori’s pet goldfish became his inspiration and ever since his passion and lifelong theme. His unique style of painting uses acrylic on clear resin which is poured into containers, resulting in a three-dimensional appearance and lifelike vitality.

This video gives you a glimpse of his amazing painting process.

This fierce lady is Juana Galán. She was a Spanish heroine known for  beating Napoleon’s troops out of her village during the Peninsula War (1808-1814). During the Battle of Valdepeñas in June, 1808, there weren’t enough men to defend the village from invading French troops. Juana, who was about 21 years old at the time, immediately rallied all of the women in the village to plan a defense strategy. When the French troops marched into the village, the women dumped boiling oil on top of them. As for Juana? She stood in the street with a large club and beat seven shades of shit out of any French soldier that crossed her path. The French beat a hasty retreat from the village, never to return, and Juana was declared a hero. Her combined intelligence, courage, beauty, and general badassery make Juana my ultimate history crush.

A painting of Robert Downey Junior that started out as a light study. A friend of mine challenged me to do one, and I just had to be all

At 4am this morning, I walked down to my basement and found my cat lying on the floor, dead.
Max started getting sick two days ago, and my mom and I booked an appointment to the vets as soon as we could get one.
We were suppose to take him in at 8:30 this morning, but he could not hold out that long and so has joined his brother in, what I like to think, is a better place for him.
I painted this afterwords as a way to let my pain out. A cathartic release. I’m bad with watercolors and traditional media in general, and this painting is no masterpiece, but it helped me in the ways I needed it to.
I really want to thank my friends: Beverly, Dani and Erin for understanding and listening to me cry and setting me straight when I tried to blame myself.
But most of all, I want to thank Lauren. My very best friend who woke on her own up at the exact same time Max died, and called me to help ease me through my pain.
Lauren’s seen my cats when they were both Kittens, and it is unfortunate that she has also experienced both of their deaths.
You are and always will be my best friend Lauren.
Thank you so much guys for comforting and being there when I needed you most.
RIP Max and Miko. You were very much loved.

So this is a painting I’ve been working on for a while now. I’m not really happy with it because their faces turned out totally different then what I imagined, and I’m only just now noticing mistakes in the anatomy and stuff. But anyway, I attempted to do a background and it turned out ok I guess, even though its very simple. The story behind this is there is this mermaid with very long hair who meets a girl on the beach. The girl loves playing with hair so she braids the mermaid’s hair up for her and in return the mermaid brings her things he finds in the ocean, like old junk people throw away and sometimes pearls. The girl has to be careful to keep the mermaid hydrated, so in the picture she’s pouring water on her. The mermaid comes by every week or so to have her hair done and they chat about random things.
Watercolours

Omg This is GORGEOUS! I’ve been waiting to see what you’ve done with this and it looks absolutely stunning! I adore all the details! The dress! The tail! The WATER! OMG! And I think their faces look perfect! I just love this whole thing really. You’ve improved so much!

A digital painting of our very own Sassy Classy Fassy
This is actually my first ever digital painting of an actual human being (I’ve painted 3D animated characters like Megamind and Flynn before) so go easy on me. I know it’s a little rough around the edges
